EASY READ. Appealing plot, a strong family theme, likable characters, a large and quirky supporting cast, and a sweet secondary romance between the hero's Aunt and the local doctor. HOWEVER, the writing is a little stiff and the social attitudes dated, which detract slightly from the storyline.

THE STORY revolves around a "baby bet" by four matriarchs, hoping to see their sons and nephew married and producing grandbabies. This 4th book focuses on divorced lawyer/cowboy, Mac Gibbons, and single mother, Dr. Samantha Collins with daughter, 4-month old Cassie. With his three best friend now married and their wives expecting, harassed bachelor Mac is a 5th wheel, until this independent, sexy doctor joins their group. Pretending to be a couple works for Mac when other single women stop pestering him, but spending time with Sam and Cassie lets him see what his friends have discovered and he has been missing.

OVERALL, charming storyline, especially the dual romances between Mac and Sam and between Mac's widowed Aunt Florence and widower Doc Greenwood. But the stilted writing and dated attitudes are less endearing. A nice read, but nothing special.

You may also enjoy the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, E. Palfrey, or R. C. Ryan. For sweet, funny, heart touching romances with great descriptive imagery try Susan Fox and Cara Colter.
This is a great series. It is one that I could share with my daughter and she loved it, too.
